Using Generative AI throughout the Institution
8 lightning talk on generative AI and how to use it through higher education
Some folks might remember a post from a few weeks ago where I shared 8 upcoming lightning talks on using AI in different parts of higher education. Well, they went really well, were well attended, and I heard from many folks they found them incredibly useful. And as important, they were a lot of fun and an interesting challenge to figure them out from creating a consistent format to determining the frames for each to coming up with useful prompts.
Though the original recordings are available for folks who signed up with the Innovative Educators, others only found out after the series and I have gotten requests from folks about these sessions. So, in typical fashion for me, I wanted to make them available to others so I re-recorded them and threw them up on my YouTube channel.
For a little more context if you didn’t read that post from 2 weeks ago, I was hired to present eight 15-minute sessions over two days on different aspects of generative AI throughout higher education including instructional design, faculty development, the tutoring center, libraries, career services, grant-writing, human resources, and executive leadership. This was an interesting way to think through how might generative AI show up, be used, and considered for different parts of the institution.
If you watch all of them, there is definitely repetition. Given that these were tips to get started, it seemed entirely impossible to not have duplicate ideas. That said, each has solid guidance that’s related to the particular area and the resources (also included below) has great prompts and follow up materials.
Anyways, as always, I hope it’s helpful. Let me know what you think! If you can, be sure to use the comments and the like buttons to let me know what you think!
